Remember the tv pilot we were working on called "American Surf Designs"? Well, it has been receiving awards and screenings at various TV and film festivals from Hawaii to Florida this year. The biggest honor has just been annouced. "American Surf Designs" has been chosen to be screened at the prestigious New York Television Fesitval. Its a big deal and our producers will be there to schmooze and (hopefully) SELL IT! Wish us luck, congratulate our producers if you know them, and look to the left on this screen to see the pilot. The structure of the show will be something like "LA Ink" or "American Choppers" where different kinds of surfers- celebrities, charities, professionals, friends- order custom surfboards and the process is followed from start to finish. The show would also follow the hectic, exciting, sexy, REAL southern California surf lifestyle. Its not a glossy image of making surfboards, its the real portayal of craftsman dedicated to the art of stoking surfers out!

The second Saturday of every month Ray St in North Park turns into a celebration of art. The street closes down, the shops and galleries stay open late, bands play, and art lovers come to enjoy the talents of local artist. This Saturday, August 8th, Andrea Holeman will be part of the celebration at the new Soul Ryde showroom located at 3819 Ray St.
She will be showing her recycled surf resin and vintage jewelry creations, paintings, and surfboards (including eco-friendly and Rad Girls boards). Come and join in the fun and experience a wonderful celebration on local art!

Saturday, May 30 kick off summer with a board and fin demo with HSD and Futures. Stop by 310 Leonard Ave to test out boards or bring your favorite HSD and try out different fin set-ups. A representative from Futures fins will be down to talk about fin design and let you try before you buy. We'll be here from 8 am til the early afternoon, we will also have some Clif bars to energize you so you can surf all day!

Congratulations to SRH and HSD team rider Nathan Carvalho for his 4th place finish at the SIMA USA Surf Championships held, August 21st through the 24th in Huntington Beach.
US surf team coach Joey Buran said, “Nathan really stepped up his level of surfing for this event.” Nathan surfed in two divisions and until Friday he won every heat he surfed in. During the finals on Sunday, Nathan was one wave away from winning the contest, but lack of swell didn’t work to his advantage and he ended up settling for 4th place.
Nathan was also selected for a second year in a row to represent the Pac-Sun USA surf team.
